New Balance FuelCell Rebel V5 Running Shoe - Responsive Daily Trainer

In this review the New Balance FuelCell Rebel V5 comes across as a lightweight, responsive daily trainer best suited to runners who want a lively, cushioned ride without a bulky race shoe. The single biggest reason to consider the FuelCell Rebel V5 is its FuelCell foam, which delivers a noticeably propulsive feel that helps push a steady run forward while still feeling comfortable on longer efforts. The shoe balances race-inspired design with everyday versatility, making it an appealing option for marathon training days, tempo runs, and everyday road mileage.

Key Features

• FuelCell foam: Provides a propulsive, responsive underfoot that helps drive forward momentum during long runs and faster efforts.
• FantomFit upper: Offers ultra-light bonded support that keeps the foot secure without adding weight or bulk.
• Geometric midsole: Extends wider and stacks higher than the prior model to improve cushioning and a stable platform for foam runners.
• Gusseted tongue: Helps the shoe hold position and reduces pressure points for a more comfortable fit on longer outings.
• Longitudinal outsole pods: Deliver targeted traction and flexibility for consistent road grip across varied paces.

Who It's For

The FuelCell Rebel V5 is ideal for runners who want a versatile daily trainer that can handle long steady runs and quicker sessions with a lively feel. Men training for marathons who prefer a responsive foam and a relatively lightweight upper will appreciate how it transitions from easy miles to tempo days.

Runners seeking maximal cushioning for very long ultras or those who need a highly cushioned stability shoe for overpronation should look elsewhere, as the Rebel V5 emphasizes responsiveness and a snug, race-inspired fit rather than plush, maximalist padding or corrective features.
